VIKINGS: VALHALLA Netflix, from Friday, February 25

THIS spin-off from Vikings is based on actual events but set 100 years afterwards with sex and violence still to the fore. After the massacre of 1002 when England tried to wipe out all Viking settlers, Danish leader King Canute plots revenge with the likes of Harald Sigurdsson and his sister Freydis Eriksdóttir, but they need to ensure they can unite the Norse army, which is torn between Christianity and paganism. A certain Harald Hardrada and the Norman king, William the Conqueror, are also involved as the series takes us up to the tumultuous battles of 1066.
