Keep off grass while it’s frozen or very wet, above, but as conditions improve start raking out moss and repair broken lawn edges or re-turf worn out areas.

Barrow any compost that is ready to use and put it by your veg patch. Turn compost heaps that are not ready so that un-rotted material can heat up.

Make or mend timber compost heaps, and while they are empty take the opportunity to tack small mesh wire netting to the base (and if need be over the insides, too) to make them rodent-proof.
