GROUP OF PEOPLE OUTSIDE PUB WERE HIT

- By ERTAN KARPAZLI

A MAN has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of deliberately driving his car into a crowd of people outside a pub in Uxbridge.

Charles Bishton, 26, had been drinking at the pub, in Moorhall Road, on May 1 2021 when he got into an argument. After threatening to run people over in his car, he then got into his Black Hyundai and drove away from the scene, before coming back minutes later and parking his car opposite the pub.

Just before 1.10am, when police were first called, Bishton smashed his car into a group of people who were standing outside of the pub, hitting three people.

One of the victims was a 30-yearold woman who hit the bonnet of the car, while a 32-year-old man was also struck.

Luckily, none of the victims suffered life-changing injuries and they all made a full recovery.

Bishton then fled the scene in his car, which was later found abandoned in New Denham. The car had obvious signs of recent damage when it was found.

Police officers were able to track

Bishton down to an address in Bravington Road, Maida Vale, where he was arrested. He was later charged with three counts of attempted grievous bodily harm, affray and dangerous driving.

Bishton, who had refused to answer questions while he was being interrogated by police, later pleaded not guilty on all charges, but on February 11 he was found guilty on two of the three charges at Isleworth Crown Court and handed a three-and-a-half year sentence.

The court also disqualified Bishton, from Colchester, from driving for 31 months.
