WRY WHODUNNIT
WHY DIDN’T THEY ASK EVANS? BritBox
■ WHO doesn’t love a bank holiday weekend whodunnit and they don’t get much more fun than an Agatha Christie classic like this. The title of this adaptation comes from the dying words of a man found dying at the bottom of a cliff, which sets off an investigation by oddball amateur sleuth duo, vicar’s son Bobby Jones (Will Poluter) and his socialite friend Frances Derwent (Lucy Boynton). Adapted and directed by Hugh Laurie, there’s a thread of wry humour running through this enjoyable three-parter that’s a nice counterpoint to the dastardly deeds that are afoot.
