Let’s build on a great Safer Internet Day

-

The amazing work across the UK to mark Safer Internet Day has had a measurable impact on our young people. 80% say they now feel more confident about what to do if they are worried about something online.

It is vital that we build on this record-breaking success, take this support beyond the day itself, and educate young people on the importance of online safety.

Internet safety is more important than ever; Ofcom’s latest research exposes significant challenges for young people to overcome online.

The research reveals shocking figures about young people’s use of, and consumption of, social media, and reinforces the fundamental need for increased awareness of internet safety.

But if we provide young people with the right tools and information, it can positively impact their lives and improve their online safety.

It is crucial that we continue pushing to make the internet a safe place and space for all.

That is why we are calling on the government, policymakers, and the industry to take up conversations beyond just a day and come together for a better internet.”
