Paying more and more for what exactly?

-

OIL prices are at all-time highs, resulting in record high fuel charges equating to £8.00 a gallon at service stations. Food bills are soaring daily. Yet despite these massive increases all round, the council feel it appropriate to increase council Tax by such large amounts.

I was strongly opposed to the introduction of CPZs in 2019 along with many other residents, but the council went ahead and got their way. It was clear it was a moneymaking exercise. One never thought they would have to pay to park in their own road. When introduced in 2019 the charge was £ 80, it was increased to £85 the following year, and last year increased again to £90. There is no additional administration involved in operating the scheme, so why the higher charges.

I understand the council are now planning on increasing the charge for collection of garden waste. Yet another money-making exercise. As residents are already paying excessive council tax bills, it is absurd having to make extra payments for garden waste collection. which are only carried out every other week.

Just how do the council think many residents will be in a position to meet all these additional payments they continually apply. Perhaps they are of the opinion residents have “money wells “in the back garden. It is abundantly clear Ealing residents are simply “cash cows” for the council.
