PLANT OF THE WEEK
SILENE DIOCIA
Silene, or red campion, is a pretty pink wildflower that you’ll see growing in grasslands or woodland verges. Their rosy flowers create a cheerful sequence to the bluebells which are just starting to go over.
For the garden there is a fancier version, Flore pleno, which is a double flowered variety. It will do well in most soils in sun or light shade and provide nectar for butterflies and bees.
