EVERYONE’S A WINNER
Our favourite people at our favourite party
‘This is rather different to the velodrome,’ joked Laura Trott as she addressed guests in the dazzling ballroom at Claridge’s for Bazaar’s annual Women of the Year Awards. Sponsored by Estée Lauder, Nirav Modi and Audemars Piguet, the night was a celebration of sisterhood, honouring women from the worlds of fashion, film, music, art and sport. There were cheers as Victoria Pendleton presented the award for Woman of the Year to her former teammate Trott, now Britain’s
greatest female Olympian; laughter when Keira Knightley admitted her first year of parenthood had

‘disappeared into a memory hole of sleeplessness’; and tears, as three generations of the Redgrave family took to the stage when Joely Richardson and her daughter Daisy
Bevan presented the British Icon trophy to Vanessa Redgrave. ‘I could go on about your achievements as an artist, and your beauty, but the “icon” you are to me is my nana. I love you very much,’ said Bevan, as the audience rose to give her grandmother a standing ovation. Simone Rocha, who received the accolade of Designer of the Year, praised her mother for her unfailing support, while Emma
Watson thanked her sister-in-law for being one of those who had ‘scraped me up off the floor’ in times of need. The evening wasn’t entirely female-focused, though. After arriving in cars provided by Mercedes-Benz, Grayson
Perry, James Norton, Christopher Kane and David Heyman presented awards to Grimes, Gillian Anderson, Stella Tennant and Emma Watson respectively; and Olivia Colman brought her husband Ed Sinclair to cheer her on as she picked up the prize for Outstanding Performance. The couple were among the first into the Audemars Piguet after party where they took to the dancefloor together. Malaika Firth, Tinie Tempah and Phoebe Waller-Bridge
soon joined them as the Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé continued to flow. ‘One more song,’ chanted Felicity Jones when the DJ announced the end of his set, prompting Emma Watson to take to the decks herself: the perfect
finale to an extraordinary evening. tf
