HOROSCOPES August in the stars.

- By Peter Watson

LEO

24 July – 23 August

There’s no need to panic if somebody close shares with you the intimate details of a situation you find unusual and surprising. You don’t have to agree with what has been going on. But it’s absolutely essential that you are non-judgemental and totally supportive. MOTTO OF THE MONTH Focus on the snake and you’re likely to miss the scorpion.

VIRGO

24 August – 23 September

Once again, you’ve had your suspicions about somebody else’s dubious way of working. If you’re tempted to voice your concerns, do so before 13 August, when Mercury starts moving backwards until 5 September. There’s a chance you’ll be seen as a whistleblower and you must present the facts as clearly as possible. MOTTO OF THE MONTH Man’s ruin lies in his tongue.

LIBR A

24 September – 23 October

Obligations to family or friends mustn’t be allowed to impinge on your own enjoyment or peace of mind. And you certainly shouldn’t let one or two people in particular use bullying tactics or emotional blackmail in order to manipulate you into a situation that suits them much more than it suits you. Stay strong.

MOTTO OF THE MONTH Elbow grease is the best polish.

SCORPIO

24 October – 22 November

As you intuit that people close by have encountered fairly serious problems, you might wonder whether to offer advice. Be careful because early in August, a Jupiter-Pluto set-to could mean others think you are being patronising, rather than genuine. Don’t make a move until you are completely sure of your ground.

MOTTO OF THE MONTH Let the evening crown the day.

SAGITTARIUS

23 November – 21 December

Comments overheard or misinterpreted by others could cause problems unless somebody steps in and points out the serious mistakes being made. Since no one else is likely to want that responsibility, you may as well accept that you’re the one for the job. Act fast and refuse to let it become a burden on you. MOTTO OF THE MONTH Necessity knows no law.

CAPRICORN

22 December – 20 January

Valuable resources, perhaps hard cash, could be at the root of a problem between certain people you know well. And although you shouldn’t assume you can find an instant solution, you may be the one to persuade those involved that they’re missing out on a tremendous amount because of an unnecessary rift or separation. MOTTO OF THE MONTH First impressions are the ones that last.

AQUARIUS

21 January – 19 February

You may wonder whether it’s best not to take a colleague at face value when discussing a transaction that requires trust. Obviously, caution is called for. Until you have proof that something’s awry, keep your suspicions to yourself. This is a sensitive situation. MOTTO OF THE MONTH When spiders and their webs unite they can tie down a lion.

PISCES

20 February – 20 March

Try to work steadily and consistently through a series of daunting tasks and responsibilities that, rightly or wrongly, have been placed in your care. And set yourself an approximate deadline of 21 August, when a Solar Eclipse could create so many distractions that it becomes virtually impossible to focus on what needs doing. MOTTO OF THE MONTH Those seeking trouble will always find it.

ARIES

21 March – 20 April

Refuse to kowtow to those who assume the right to advise you on professional or private matters. These individuals might insist that they mean well but if you give them the slightest taste of power, they’ll try to dictate your every move. Stand up to them and adopt a no-nonsense tone from the outset.

MOTTO OF THE MONTH The face is no reflection of the heart.

TAURUS

21 April – 21 May

Having hidden your feelings with regard to opportunities within some challenging territory, you need to change tack. The Lunar Eclipse on 7 August will act as a trigger for you to inform those in authority of how much you have to offer and how it will benefit everybody else involved, as well as yourself.

MOTTO OF THE MONTH Honour is of far more value than honours.

GEMINI

22 May – 21 June

Decisions taken on the home or family front should be made concrete in the first half of the month. So encourage loved ones to collaborate with you and bring about changes that are well overdue. If you delay for too long, you’ll find that other issues crop up and you’re left feeling frustrated and resentful.

MOTTO OF THE MONTH Even the best swimmer might still drown.

CANCER

22 June – 23 July

Although you mustn’t appear dictatorial, you should at times assert your authority. So ensure that nothing you say or do can be interpreted as aggressive. Inform others of the importance of mutual support. But think in terms of an iron fist in a velvet glove. MOTTO OF THE MONTH Leadership is the ability to hide panic from others.
