MOONLIGHT AND MAGIC
Ralph Lauren celebrated half a century of fashioning the American Dream
A glamorous crowd gathered to mark five decades of Ralph Lauren
‘This is beyond my dreams tonight,’ said Ralph Lauren as he
took an emotional lap of honour at the end of his 50th-anniversary show in Central Park. More than 150 models of all generations walked through the open-air Bethesda Terrace, which was transformed into a carpeted catwalk for the night. Afterwards, guests including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Hillary Clinton and Tom Hiddleston sat at tables decorated with lanterns (by the light of which Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway would later dance). ‘We are here to celebrate you, Ralph Lauren,’ said Oprah Winfrey in a moving speech. ‘You inspire us to be elevated to a higher sense of beauty and you do that because of who you are… Congratulations, bravo, bravo!’ teresa fitzherbert
