A star-studded crowd celebrated in style at the annual Fashion Awards in London

‘We have a deep connection to what we wear. Sometimes it’s very personal, sometimes it’s emotional, but for me it’s rooted in supporting and empowering each other, especially as women.’ So declared the Duchess of Sussex, the surprise guest at the annual Fashion Awards in partnership with Swarovski, when she presented the Womenswear Designer accolade to her friend, Givenchy’s artistic director Clare Waight Keller. This inspirational tone was maintained
throughout the ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Model of the Year Kaia Gerber praised her family, while Steve McQueen hailed the ‘renaissance woman’ Miuccia Prada’s commitment to art and philosophy.
The evening was brought to a moving finale as Boy George
performed the song ‘Victims’ in a tribute to the stylist Judy Blame and the production designer Michael Howells, both of whom died last year. It was a fitting conclusion to an
event that celebrated the power of compassion. As the Duchess of Sussex said in her speech: ‘The culture of fashion has shifted from a time when it was cool to be cruel, to now,
