‘When I first saw Thomas’ courtyard installation, I was struck by its lovely reverberating playfulness, juxtaposed with the more classical statue of Joshua Reynolds. The great hulking, visceral humanoids with which he has surrounded that piece have set

up a very powerful contrast. Some may feel intimidated by the immensity of this figure, but personally I feel protected by the magnitude of the imagination at work. I would say there is very little

similarity between Thomas’ sculptures and my designs, but that’s why I wanted to be photographed among them – to show that the ethereal beauty of a Vampire’s Wife dress is armour enough, even

against such extraordinary, monumental art.’
