"The sudden interest cemented the notion that there is a booming

market for high-end quality designs by emerging designers"

Most fashion graduates dream of establishing a namesake brand, seeing their designs, for which they worked blood sweat and tears, featured in leading fashion magazines, worn by celebrities and raking in an international clientele. For Fashion Crossover London designer Claire Tiplady this dream has become a reality. Offering a quirky line of gender-neutral and highly stylised pieces that nod to the swinging sixties and the London Underground, is the emerging designer and British Brand Claire Tiplady.

In the summer of 2020, reality struck as Claire Tiplady’s signature lapelled silk shirt captured the attention of a Japanese VIP customer, the owner of one of the largest toy companies of Japan, and requested a custom-order. “This has most definitely been one of the proudest moments to date, the sudden interest cemented the notion that there

a booming market for high-end quality designs by emerging designers. It pushed me to focus on my collection and start selling my work, the whole process from requesting the fabrics to grading the size solidified the fact that Claire Tiplady is a real fashion brand. Furthermore, this single event served as a catalyst to re-think my designs and my target audience. The very first press result I gained through Fashion Crossover London was a man modelling my woven coat, now two years later, my very first customer is once again male! This unexpected interest motivated me to focus on gender-fluid designs for my future collections," says Claire Tiplady.

Claire’s humble beginnings date back to 2018, when the fresh-faced designer graduated from Birmingham City University and joined the designer service platform Fashion Crossover London. To date, the Cambridge-based designer has seen her work, worn on National and International television, featured in Harper’s Bazaar and while the world was locked down, shipped her first custom-order to Tokyo. “Joining Fashion Crossover London has been the best decision I have ever made. Seeing my work featured in the most amazing fashion stories has given me the confidence I needed to push my collection forward and together with the constant support I received from Fashion Crossover London I hope to keep growing my label,” says Claire Tiplady.

Claire Tiplady is sure to kick 2021 off with a bang, launching her collection for custom-order on www.fashioncrossover-london.com
