Stardom comes in many guises – mostly designed to keep the rest of us at bay. It may be wrapped in diamonds, or surrounded by an entourage, or hedged with preconditi­ons about what may or may not be discussed. But although Keira Knightley is one of the world’s most successful (and recognisab­le) actresses, she remains extraordin­arily approachab­le – as I discovered when we went for a walk around the neighbourh­ood where we both live, to discuss everything from the trials of homeschool­ing to her dreams of intergalac­tic domination. Knightley is resolutely unpretenti­ous, so I was particular­ly interested to learn that in order to boost domestic morale during lockdown, she and her little daughter bounced on their trampoline in their best clothes on a daily basis. And I would agree that getting dressed up has an indubitabl­y uplifting effect – especially now that we are once again allowed to go somewhere special. We celebrate the new sartorial mood in two deliciousl­y different fashion shoots: one lavish, in the glamorous surroundin­gs of Claridge’s, the other laidback, as our model takes off on a road trip to remember…
