THE COCKTAIL: LA BEDDA
Combining the flavours of basil, lemon
and pistachio, La Bedda – meaning ‘beautiful’ in Sicilian – is a fresh, zingy
and summery cocktail.
INGREDIENTS Serves three
75ml sugar syrup
15g finely ground pistachios
10g basil
75ml lemon juice
150ml gin (we use O’ndina gin as it is infused with Sicilian lemons)
Ice cubes
Tonic water
METHOD
Prepare three tall serving glasses by dipping the rim into the sugar syrup, then
the finely ground pistachios.
Mix the torn basil leaves, lemon juice and sugar syrup together in a cocktail maker. Add ice cubes and the gin and shake well. Pour into the glasses with more ice, top with tonic water and a basil leaf. Salute!
