Can you provide a home for these three of a kind?
SOME people need alcohol to help them through the day. Others need cats. It confuses the issue when cats are named after alcoholic beverages.
However just like it’s possible to have too many drinks so, unbelievable though it may seem to some, it is possible to have too many cats. They all have to be fed and kept healthy. That’s not cheap.
These three gorgeous kittens arrived at Mayhew as their previous owner had too many cats. They arrived at Mayhew in September with three adults and three siblings. That’s nine altogether. I don’t know how many were left behind.
All three can be homed either on their own, paired up or in a trio. Each of them could possibly live with another cat but, if that were the case, Mayhew would, first, want details about how your cat gets on with other cats. All three of them love to play.
Amaretto tends to be the shyest in the group. She likes to observe and needs time to get to know you. Bacardi can initially be timid but, when he’s ready, he’ll investigate. Tia Maria is the boldest. But, of course, what they’re like now, might bear little resemblance to what they’re like once they’re confidently settled in their new home. If you’re interested in giving them a loving home, see details at themayhew.org or call 020 8962 8000.
Not only do Mayhew rehome cats and dogs, they’ve got other strings to their bow. These were highlighted last Friday at their Christmas Concert which took place at St Matthew’s Church, Ealing.
Not only did we hear about their rehoming work we also heard what’s it’s like to be a Mayhew foster carer or have a visit from one of their TheraPaws dogs. Under Mayhew’s TheraPaws scheme, volunteers take behaviourally assessed dogs into hospitals, mental health centres and care homes to help improve the quality of life for the residents.
Mayhew emphasise their community work. They support people experiencing homelessness and help struggling pet owners either directly or through food banks.
And, of course, importantly, they run a busy veterinary clinic which provides free preventative interventions such as neutering, microchipping and vaccinations for owners living in Ealing, Brent, Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea who meet their eligibility criteria. As outlined last week, they’re currently prioritising, in the clinic, the neutering of XL Bully dogs. For more details about Mayhew’s work here and abroad, see themayhew. org. They’re located at Trenmar Gardens, Kensal Green NW10 6BJ.
