Animal Rescue with Marion Garnett
Dedicated animal expert Marion Garnett, founder of the Ealing Animal Charities Fair, continues her column
WHEN Michael came into the care of Hounslow Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), he was in a bit of a state. He’d been passed around several owners before being relinquished to a vet where he was found to have bladder stones.
Anyone who has had bladder stones will know how painful they can be and will understand Michael needed urgent help.
Fortunately, under the care of HAWS, he was able to have an operation to unblock his tubes and he’s now doing well.
For the past month, Michael’s been in foster care with HAWS where he’s been on a special diet and has had no issues.
Michael’s foster carer says he’s a big boy with a tiny meow. He likes to sit at the window chatting to the birds. All he wants to do is love you and be loved in return. He’s building up his confidence. Michael’s looking for a home with no young children. If this could be with you, see more details at haws-animals.org.uk.
Without a doubt, as we speak, HAWS are collecting treasures to sell on their stall at next month’s 45 th Ealing Animals Fair.
It is through stalls like this that HAWS raise money for the animals in their care.
Mind you, they’ll have competition as there are over 30 other charities also having a stall. At the Fair, they have the stall right at the door, as you go in.
As well as stalls with fabulous bargains and gifts to buy, there’s also a great programme of speakers including the famous actor Peter Egan (as long as work commitments allow). If you haven’t yet watched Peter in last month’s television series Truelove, you’re missing a treat. The title for Peter’s talk will be Compassion, Kindness and Empathy.
And, as Peter’s fans will know, Peter is an amazing example of all three in action.
There’ll be live music with Alastair Gavin who was Assistant Musical Director at Mamma Mia! in the West End for eleven years.
You can keep up-to-date with details about the Fair including the speakers and which charities will be attending at ealinganimalsfair. london, The Fair takes place at Hanwell Methodist Church, Church Road W7 1DJ on March 2 (10.30am-4pm). Admission is free.
But, before then, we have Valentine’s Day and the amazing charity All Dogs Matter who, of course, will be having a stall at the Ealing Animals Fair, are organising a Valentine’s Dog
Walk on Hampstead Heath on February 11 (11am-2pm). To book tickets, go to alldogsmatter.co.uk.
