It’s official: Taylor Swift loves dancing with boys. We all saw the now-infamous video of her drunk dancing with Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala in May, weeks before they became an item. And last week, we watched again as the singer attended millionaire oil-heir Mike Hess’ birthday party, kissing him on the cheek and dancing with him as he wrapped his arm around her. Unsurprisingly, insiders say boyfriend Tom (who was in Australia) is not happy.
“Tom wasn’t at the party, but mutual friends told him what happened, and he saw pictures and reports online,” says heat’s insider close to the 35-year-old actor. “He was initially furious and blew up at Taylor. She said it was just fun for Mike’s birthday, but it turned into a proper row. She was crying, saying she was just trying to make the birthday boy feel special, but Tom made it clear he wasn’t happy with the speculation the video caused and that it made her look like she was single, not someone in a relationship. And Taylor wouldn’t put up with it if a video of him kissing someone else had surfaced. It was their first real fight and it was bad.”
The Pda-heavy pair have been together since June, when they were first seen kissing on a rock. The timing was awkward, as Taylor, 26, had split from DJ Calvin Harris only weeks before. But despite the criticism – and Calvin’s eventual Twitter rant – she and Tom quickly became inseparable. They were seen on the beach with his mum and spent 4 July together, with Tom wearing an “I ❤ TS” T-shirt. But their outings together have slowed down in recent weeks, as Tom headed Down Under to film Thor: The Dark World and Taylor remained in LA to start her next music project. But, just days after the video of Taylor and Mike emerged, he flew back to the US.
“When they’re together, everything is fine,” says the insider. “Being apart is difficult, particularly for a new relationship, and seeing his girlfriend kiss someone else wasn’t cool. Taylor did see that and apologised. She’ll be more careful in future, but time apart and Taylor’s flirty nature could be a bad combination.” n
