Eye In The Sky ON DVD NOW, ON SKY STORE 22 AUG

This Brit thriller focuses on smallscale tension instead of globetrott­ing action. Helen Mirren is the ruthless Colonel Katherine Powell, who uses hi-tech surveillan­ce to track terrorists to a house in Nairobi. When a child gets in the way of a drone strike, a lengthy legal and moral debate ensues at all levels of power. Jason Arnopp

The Jungle Book DVD/BLU RAY/SKY STORE, 22 AUG

This retelling of the Rudyard Kipling story that became a Disney animated classic is one of the surprise movie treats (and hits) of the year so far. Director Jon Favreau and his team put together astonishin­gly realistic yet entirely CGI backdrops and talking animal characters (voiced by the likes of Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson) surroundin­g young human hero Mowgli (Neel Sethi). Jane Got A Gun DVD/BLU RAY/SKY STORE, 22 AUG

A troubled passion project for star/ producer Natalie Portman, this turns out to be a well-made and nicely acted Western. Portman is a young mother trying to protect her family in the outlands of New Mexico from the threat of a gang of outlaws led by Ewan Mcgregor’s impressive­ly nasty villain. In desperatio­n, she turns to a gunslinger (Joel Edgerton) who’s also her former fiancé, for help. Boyd Hilton
