Becks will soon be living it up in Miami, but how will that go down with Posh?

It’s an exciting time to be David Beckham (when is it not?). After a two-year wait, he’s finally secured a site to build his long-awaited stadium for the Miami football team he bought in 2014 – and he’s even started approaching players. But what’s good for Becks isn’t so great for his wife Victoria, who’s told friends she’s upset that her husband will soon be spending a lot of time in Miami – a city full of gorgeous women – without her.
“It’s going to be difficult for them to see each other as much when he goes, and Victoria is worried the time apart could be bad for their relationship,” says an insider close to the pair, who had a tensionfilled past week after David created headlines by laughing with a pretty brunette outside a Hollywood shop. “Victoria understands that girls like to chat to David, but she still hates it when these kind of pictures come out – and the timing couldn’t have been worse. Just when she was upset about David having to spend time away from the family, she’s confronted with images of a young woman giggling with him, leading people to speculate. She knows David was just innocently joking with a fan, but Victoria realises girls will approach him more when he’s in Miami. It’s uncommon when they are in London, but when they’re at their LA home – like they currently are for the summer with the kids – girls constantly approach David in his car or at the gym. Even if they’re out for dinner together, girls will walk up to him and actually put their phone numbers in his hand. Victoria trusts David completely, but seeing those pics last week reminded her that he’ll soon be spending lots of time essentially solo in Miami, and girls will be throwing themselves at him. She knows nothing will happen, but she hates the idea of it anyway.”
Insiders say David, 41, does his best to listen to Victoria, but doesn’t always get the problem. “He understands why Victoria gets upset when people speculate, but ultimately he says it’s just him laughing with fans,” says a friend. “He’s so chilled and happy to chat with anyone, so he’s not going to stop doing that. And he’s been working on this football team launch for years – it’s his dream and nothing will stop him going for it.” Last week, David – who retired as a football player in 2013 – confirmed, “Miami Beckham United has
secured a stadium development site,” and footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic admitted Becks has started recruiting, saying, “He has asked me to play with his team.” It’s set to officially launch in 2018, meaning Becks’ trips to Miami will become more frequent, which friends say is bad timing.
As heat reported, tensions have been running high between the Beckhams – who’ve been married 17 years – as David urged Victoria to think about trying for a fifth baby, despite their busy careers meaning they already struggle to spend quality time together.
Now, the designer’s oldest son, Brooklyn, 17, is desperate to move away to be closer to his girlfriend, meaning he will spend less time at home. The would-be photographer is currently dating La-based actress Chloë Moretz, 19, and, friends say, is gagging to make the move out there. “Brooklyn’s made it clear he wants to be living in the US,” says the insider. “It’s the right place for his career, and he wants to be closer to Chloë – he’s so smitten. Victoria adores Chloë, but it’s hard not spending as much time with Brooklyn. He is her best friend at home and they love hanging out, so of course she misses him. Victoria keeps suggesting they do stuff together, but Brooklyn is busier than he used to be. He’s growing up and wants his space. Victoria knew that was going to happen one day, but she already feels the loss of him in her life, so it would be that much worse if he officially moved to LA.” Posh, 42, hinted at wanting to spend more time with Brooklyn last week, posting a picture on Instagram of them on a hike and captioning it, “Special family time.”
The source adds, “Vic’s already picturing returning from work to their house in London without David and Brooklyn there. Of course, she’s still got Romeo, Cruz and Harper – and the other boys will be back a lot. She knows she has a lot to be grateful for, but it’s still hard for her.” n LUCY VINE
