Uh-oh, Amy & Ben could be set for split
The honeymoon’s over for the comedian and her boyfriend
Remember when these two were taking over our timelines with their smooching and getting-a-dog-together-ness? Well, things have gone a little quiet on the PDA front in recent weeks for Amy Schumer and Ben Hanisch. As Amy wraps her new film and prepares for her stand-up tour, furniture designer Ben’s returned to work in Chicago, telling friends he’s not sure how they’ll survive the distance.
“It’s difficult being apart so much,” says an insider close to Amy, who’s been filming with Goldie Hawn in Hawaii, and starts her worldwide tour this week. She’s doing backto-back shows from now until January, travelling everywhere from Europe to Australia and all over the US. The source adds, “Ben won’t move to New York, where A my lives. A nd even if he did, Amy travels so much for work. Between filming movies, doing stand-up and taping her show, they’re hardly seeing each other. They realise the distance thing is a problem, but they’re at an impasse over what to do.”
The pair, who’ve been dating since the end of last year, were reunited last week for a friend’s wedding – where Amy was a bridesmaid – but otherwise things have been quiet on their social media. Ben’s last post with Amy was on 6 June – a far cry from the early days of their relationship when he regularly posted loved-up pics, writing things like, “I’m in love with her” and, “When you find her, risk everything”. They were so keen not to be separated in January, Ben temporarily located to New York and Amy even recruited him to appear on her show, Inside Amy Schumer.
“When they started dating, Ben was able to take time off and be with Amy all the time,” says the insider. “They had six blissful months, but he had to go home some time. Amy’s schedule is beyond busy and it’s putting a strain on their relationship. They love each other, but Ben can’t keep following her around the world. It’s sad, but it’s hard to see where they’ll go from here.”
