Everything you need to know about this year’s Children In Need

Our guide to the best bits of this year’s charity fest

-

The BBC’S annual charity broadcast has been going since 1980 and the late presenting legend Sir Terry Wogan hosted it every single year until 2015 when he was forced to pull out due to his illness, and Dermot O’leary heroically stepped in at the last minute. Now it’s time for the first

Children In Need since Sir Terry’s death earlier this year, and to commemorate his importance to the whole history of the event, there’s a special live concert airing on the Monday before Friday’s traditional live telethon...

THE CONCERT FOR WOGAN

Take That, Ellie Goulding, Olly Murs, Gregory Porter, Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Rick Astley, Beverley Knight, Alexander Armstrong and The Vamps are among the stellar line-up of acts performing at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday 14 November for Children In Need Rocks For Terry. It’ll be hosted by Radio 1’s Fearne Cotton and Greg James, and will feature a combination of songs that Sir Terry loved or had a personal connection with, as well as archive material from his long career and appeal films for Children In Need.

THE BIG TELETHON

As for the Friday night of Children In Need treats, the new line-up of presenters is Tess Daly, Graham Norton, Greg James, Ade Adepitan and Rochelle and Marvin Humes. And among the highlights are…

Would I Lie To You Junior Edition

– Regulars David Mitchell and Lee Mack are the team captains as usual, but their special guests will be children, some of whom will be making incredible-sounding claims, while the others help Dave and Lee figure out which are true and which are porky pies.

Strictly Come Dancing Children

THE ’80S ’ENDERS KNEES-UP

There’ll also be the traditional song and dance number from the

Eastenders cast, who this time will perform a dance medley of ’80s movie classics in the studio, plus musical performances from Michael Bublé, Little Mix and the cast of

Aladdin The Musical. And, at some point between 8-8.30pm, there’s a sneak preview of the Christmas

Doctor Who . Get involved.
