Nipplegate rocks Janet & Justin
Fun fact: did you know there is a whole Wikipedia page dedicated to this, er, boob? Back in 2004, 144million Americans tuned into the Super Bowl to find Janet Jackson’s nipple making a surprise cameo. The half-time-show-stealing tit was exposed by Justin Timberlake as he and Miss Nasty performed. They later claimed it was a “wardrobe malfunction” (coining a phrase!), but nobody bought the excuse. The ensuing prudish outrage meant CBS was fined a record $550,000 and there was a crackdown on broadcast “indecency”. Janet took the brunt of the blame and was forced to apologise, saying, “The whole thing went wrong in the end. I am sorry if I offended anyone – that was truly not my intention.” She later added, “It’s truly embarrassing for me to know that [millions of] people saw my breast. But there are much worse things in the world.” But is there anything better?
