Rochelle goes full ‘Earth Mother’

Don’t read this while eating your lunch

Meet the newest member of the Humes family: Valentina Raine. Rochelle gave birth to her and husband Marvin’s second child last week, and the singer, 27, announced the news on Twitter, writing, “Our world is now complete. Happy birthday little one...” next to a picture of herself (looking crazy good for a woman who’d just given birth) cuddling the baby. So far, so sweet.

Two days later, she shared another picture, showing a beautiful pink-framed artwork with the word “Love”. But *gulp* on closer inspection, it turned out the special “art” was actually made from her newborn’s dehydrated umbilical cord, shaped into the word like a post-labour Peperami. Unsurprisingly, the snap sent followers into a meltdown – with comments ranging from, “How beautiful!” to “I don’t know how I feel about this.” Indeed.

Next to the frame was a bottle of delicious-sounding Placenta Plus pills. In case you want to follow suit, it costs about £200 to have your placenta dried, ground down to a powder and put into tablets – reported benefits include boosting breast milk production and energy levels. W hatever happened to having a big old latte?

The presenter couple kept the sex of the baby a surprise until the end, although their little girl Alaia-mai, three, had previously voiced that she wanted a baby sister. Rochelle said, “Our little girl is so desperate to have a sister. I warned her, ‘What happens if you have a baby brother?’ She replied, ‘We’ll just send it back.’”

Let’s hope her adorable new sibling makes up for Mummy and Daddy’s dubious new picture on the wall...
