We uncover the shocking truth behind Sarah Harding and Chezza’s bitter friendship

Being frozen out by Cheryl and co left lasting damage elebrity Big Brother hasn’t exactly been the career-reviving show Sarah Harding thought it would be. Instead of a fun-loving party girl with a heart of gold, she came across as needy, argumentative and

fallouts with the rest of the band changed her.”

While Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh all became close, Sarah and Nadine Coyle were often felt left out in the cold. “She always felt – rightly or wrongly –that the other girls were bitching about her, and they would stop talking when she walked into the room,” our insider says.

“She hated those days. Nadine had already made up her mind to quit the band and was spending more and more time away from the others, so Sarah just ended up feeling left out but never knowing what she did wrong. She started getting defensive, and felt lost, insecure and alone. At the same time, she was breaking away from the group and becoming a party animal. And that’s when it all

started going wrong for her.”

According to heat’s source, Sarah, 35, and Cheryl, 34, really clashed about Sarah hitting the party scene hard. “Cheryl can be a bit awkward in public and wasn’t much of a drinker or clubber, while Sarah knew everyone and was always at every event,” our source adds. “And when Sarah got involved with Tom Crane [her ex], he used to tell her not to put up with the girls’ crap, and that girl bands were so embarrassing and she was much cooler. That changed Sarah’s attitude towards being in Girls Aloud.

“She turned into the person who would be rolling her eyes and making a joke about the cringe

music and outfits and saying how ‘cheesy’ some of their stuff was. By the end, she and Cheryl used to have massive fights – there would be rows, with Sarah saying no one listened to her opinion.” Friends say Sarah’s never really recovered, which goes some way to explaining her behaviour inside the CBB house. We’re told, “Sarah suffers with anxiety, and it will be g ettin g to her right now. She really wants to revive her career and she’s desperately trying to figure out what personality she needs to adopt for the sake of the show and then make people try to like her – it’s probably messing with her head. She’s so obsessed with trying to prove that she’s reformed, that she’s not the person everyone thought she was, that her own personality got lost – she’s too insecure to even try to be herself.”

Sources tell heat that Sarah wanted to use her time in the house to relaunch her career and show people another side of herself, time will tell if CBB was really the right choice for Sarah and her unresolved issues. n
