Big story of the week Swapping Surrey for the sunny States isn’t going to be easy
They’re about to embark on a family holiday to LA, but if Liam Payne has his way, he, Cheryl and baby Bear might be deserting our shores for good. No, we don’t want to believe it, either, but the One Direction star is keen to make Hollywood their permanent home, and he’s hoping their trip will show homebird Chezza what an amazing life they can have out there.
“Liam wants to use the LA break to convince Cheryl to move over to the US full-time, as that’s where he needs to be based for work,” an insider tells heat. “Although Liam’s had solo success in the UK and in the US [his debut single
Strip That Down topped the Billboard charts], he feels it will better for him to be based in LA. He’ll have more access to world-respected producers and songwriters, and can fit around their schedule. He also thinks his music is better suited to an American audience
“When Liam and Cheryl first got together and started discussing a future, she was up for trying out LA. She was sick of the UK and wanted a fresh start, so she was enthusiastic – especially in terms of her music career. But having a baby changed that,” they add. “Liam’s hoping this latest visit will change her mind, and that she’ll be impressed with the house, the sunshine and lifestyle enough to convince her to give it a try.”
While home at the moment is a six-bedroom house in Surrey, when they’re in the States, the family will be staying at Liam’s £8million estate in LA, which has two guest houses, a vineyard and a huge swimming pool, and is short drive away from the beaches of Malibu.
“If they decide to move, they would live in Liam’s house over there,” our source continues. “It’s huge and they’ve had it extensively remodelled. Cheryl has helped with the interior design to make it ‘theirs’. The house is amazing, and she does absolutely love it.”
It’s also close to where the Kardashians live – and Chezza is hoping to reignite her friendship with Khloé Kardashian. The pair have known each other for a few years, with Khloé once describing Cheryl as her “soul sister”, and if Cheryl does decide to relocate to LA, they’re bound to meet up.
“She hopes to get friendly with Khloé and hang out,” we’re told. “Cheryl likes to have a strong support network around her and would need lots of friends if she were to leave the UK. And Khloé obviously has all her sisters and knows so many people in ‘Cheryl gets anxious at the thought of starting again’ Hollywood – something which Cheryl will need. Right now, she has a very good inner circle around her – people she loves. It’s taken her years to get such a tight group of friends, so she gets really anxious at the thought of having to start over again – she knows she’s totally rubbish at it.”
Cheryl is also a fan of the Kardashian look, and we’re told she plans to change her image to fit in more when she’s over there. “She loves Kim and Khloé’s style – especially some of their more ‘sports cool’ outfits,” our source says. “She’d love to work with Kim’s styling team. Cheryl loves the utilitarian/sports/underwear look they have going on, but she hasn’t set anything up with them yet. She is thinking about doing some personal shopping days with a stylist when she’s there, though, just to get a taste of it and more of an LA look.”
While Cheryl will be keen on getting herself a network of LA friends, she’ll also presumably be looking to set five-month-old Bear up on some A-list playdates. Khloé can introduce her to her nieces and nephews – North and Saint West, Mason, Penelope and Reign Disick and Dream Kardashian – and Liam is already planning some meet-ups, too. “Liam’s said they can do playdates with Louis [Tomlinson] and his son, 18-month-old Freddie,” our insider reveals. “When Simon Cowell is in LA, they can hang out with him and his son Eric. Of course, they know the Beckhams, too, and although their kids are much older than Bear, Victoria’s said they’re welcome to go round whenever the family are in America. and Cheryl already knows Eva Longoria from working with her for L’oréal.”
But, of course, there’s one huge draw to a new life in LA for Cheryl, and that’s music – something that she is still hugely passionate about. As heat told you last week, Liam is recording songs out there and has pulled a few strings so that Cheryl can get in the studio with some big name producers. And, if she were to move to LA full-time, she would make her comeback solo career her main priority, as she thinks she’ll get more respect in America. “It would be all about the music – that’s all she wants to do.
