beyonce demands an apology from Jay Z

She told him it was time he talked about his falling out with Solange

Three years after that elevator incident, Jay Z has finally spoken in public about his bust-up with sister-in-law Solange. He insisted everything was now fine between the pair, but we’re told it was wife Beyoncé who was behind his admission.

“Bey was giving him grief about it. She’s wanted him to make a public apology for ages,” an insider tells heat. “She felt the matter could be put to rest if Jay addressed it head on and said that he and Solange were all good – which he did, calling her his ‘sister’.”

In the infamous CCTV footage, a furious Solange was seen pushing and punching Jay after the 2014 Met Ball, while Beyoncé looked on. Rumours at the time suggested that Solange was angry because Jay had cheated on Bey. Speaking about the argument last week, Jay said, “We had one disagreement ever. Before and after, we’ve been cool. She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period. I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space.”

While Beyoncé was instrumental in getting Jay to speak out about the incident, we’re told the arrival of the couple’s two-month-old twins Rumi and Sir also helped change his mind. “It was only after the kids were born that Jay finally decided to clear the air,” our source continues. “He told friends that he needed to come clean about his private demons. He addressed the cheating rumours on his latest album, and talked about his feud with Kanye

West [on a recent music podcast], as well as the Solange fight. He wants to be truthful for his kids and set a good example for them.”

And the couple – who are also parents to five-year-old Blue Ivy – can move on with everything after finally buying a family home in LA. After having spent most of this year in a $400K-a-month rented Malibu mansion (yes, we also wondered how they coped), they’ve now splashed out a reported $88million on a 30,000sq ft Bel Air abode. The 13-bedroom home features

four outdoor swimming pools, a spa and wellness centre, staff quarters and bulletproof windows. At least Jay will be well protected if he ever gets on the wrong side of Solange again.
