Jennifer Lopez is not one for a low-key entrance (not a reference to vajazzling, FYI). So, when it comes to marrying her boyfriend of seven months, Alex Rodriguez, you won’t be surprised to hear that the star is ready to go all out, with a three-day, star-studded extravaganza in the fancy New Yorkers’ weekend playground of the Hamptons. Although the pair have yet to publicly announce their engagement, friends tell heat they’ve already started talking dates and are unwilling to settle for anything less than “the wedding of the century”.
“It’s really happening, they’re both so excited to be able to show their love for each other,” says heat’s insider. “They already have a wedding planner working with them, and they’re just nailing down the time frame and type of ceremony they want. They want it to be as grand and extravagant as possible, and Jen’s sold on the idea of a three-day event, with her famous musician friends performing . Every detail has been taken care of – there will be helicopters to the venue, and all the accommodation will be paid for, too. Jen wants to treat everyone to a party they’ll never forget – there’s even going to be a ten-course rehearsal dinner the night before. She and Alex figure they have more money between them than they know what to do with [the couple boast a combined wealth of over $600m], so why not splurge on their loved ones? And it’s not like either of them are known for being understated.”
Jen, 48, and former baseball star, Alex, 42, have both been married before, Jen racking up an impressive three marriages so far. The pair also have two children each, who will no doubt play important roles in the nuptials. “The likely venue is the Hamptons [where Jen has a $10million mansion], and the wedding will be either early next year or next summer,” says the source. “They’re still working out the logistics of having a church ceremony, which they’d both like. But that makes it hard keep the event private, so holding the reception at her home would be perfect. Jen wants at least three gown changes, plus a load of high-end resort-wear and cocktail dresses for the wedding week. Everyone thinks she’ll have Valentino for her entire bridal look, and Alex will get Tom Ford to design his own wardrobe.”
