Friends warn Sarah over ‘playboy’ Chad
We can’t have been the only ones hiding behind our hands and shrieking, “Nooooo!” when Sarah Harding got off with lothario Chad Johnson on Celebrity Big Brother. And now they’re out, and making a proper go of things, friends tell heat the singer is ignoring warning signs about the playboy. In fact, she’s already talking about marrying him and getting a reality TV show.
“Friends are worried that Sarah’s in denial about Chad,” says an insider close to the CBB winner, after headlines last week revealed that her new US reality star boyfriend was on dating app Bumble. “Everyone’s warning her not to trust him or rush into anything. They’re concerned he may be using her for fame and she could wind up getting hurt or embarrassed if it turns out he’s bad news. We’ve told her we’re worried, but she’s not listening. She’s adamant that they’re in love, and she says she’s ready to settle down with Chad. She says he’s The One and has reassured people he’s a good guy. But there’s a worry that Sarah will return to her wild ways with Chad. She still has a lot of issues and personal demons she needs to deal with, and if he dumps her, she could end up in rehab again.”
Back in 2011, the former Girls Aloud singer was treated for depression and dependency on alcohol and sleeping pills. It came shortly after a devastating break-up with her fiancé, DJ Tom Crane, and Sarah said afterwards, “I was drinking to deal with my emotions after the split.”but CBB viewers were concerned to see her partying hard in the house. In fact, Sarah and Chad’s initial flirtation was boozefuelled, but Sarah, 35, insists it’s the real deal, saying, “[Chad] soon became a very good friend to me, and we got a lot closer.”
Now, friends say Sarah’s hoping their relationship will help reignite her career. “She’s keen to get them signed up for their own reality show,” says the insider. “She also talking about doing a tell-all book about her and Chad, as well as her time in Girls Aloud. A lot of what she has to say isn’t pretty – it’s not going to go down well with the other girls, but she feels untouchable. She’s getting six-figure offers – she thinks she and Chad could be the next big reality TV love story.”
We got a sneak preview of what a Sarah and Chad reality show might look like last week, when The Bachelor star, 30, posted an Instagram video. In it, Sarah’s seen ranting, apparently drunk, telling Chad to “f**k off”.
