The main reason Becky Vardy wanted to enter the jungle was to change the public’s view of her. But thanks to some of her exes, the wife of England and Leicester City striker Jamie is struggling to do that.
Former boyfriend Luke Foster – also a footballer and father of her seven-yearold son Taylor – claims she dumped him after meeting £80,000-a-week Jamie, telling him she’d “upgraded”, and has always been desperate to be a high-profile WAG.
“For Becky, going on the show is not about money. This is all about becoming famous. She always wanted the lives of Victoria Beckham and Coleen Rooney,” he’s said. “She’s now got the husband she always wanted, one who can keep her in the lifestyle she’s dreamt of. She’s got the shopping, the house, the car. She’s living her perfect life.”
Becky, 35, has had an eventful love life. She married her first husband when she was 19, but they split and she went on to get pregnant with first daughter, Megan, now 11. At eight months pregnant, she wed her boss Steve Clark, 52, who isn’t Megan’s dad. She’s since accused him of being abusive, calling the marriage the “biggest mistake” of her life, although he’s denied all claims.
But Becky’s experiences did not put her off, and in January 2014, she met Jamie when she organised her 27th birthday. She claims she made him wait two months before agreeing to a date – and he must have really won her over, as she gave birth to their daughter, Sofia, that October
The couple went on to marry and have son Finlay, ten months, and despite their £9m fortune, Becky reckons she’s still down to earth, telling her campmates, “I still shop in Next.” ■
