EAT, DRINK & BE MERRY

INVITES

Facebook invites are great, but I’m a massive culprit for looking at the invite and then not accepting until I see who else is going. I’m a lurker.

I prefer the personal touch, so I’ll text people. I always start with the lads and their ladies, and then I’ll start thinking about who I’ve got on with this year. It’s all down to someone’s personality. I don’t like inviting people who don’t talk much.

FOOD

For me, all parties start with the food. First, I write down everything that I want to cook – from finger food to big plates I can prepare in advance and just leave for people to help themselves. I do try to theme it, but come the day, I’ve changed my mind. I always make too much, as I’m a bit of a feeder, so there’s plenty for the guests to take home.

DRINKS

I have a cocktail station for guests to mix their own drinks. I got a load of the recipe cards from my local supermarket and all the stuff to make the cocktails. I put them all on a table with the recipe cards and let people make their own cocktails. Then I have another table for people who just want a straight whisky, vodka or beer.

ENTERTAINMENT

The best parties are the ones that aren’t too organised. We do have the occasional savage game, like “I Have Never”, or one where you whisper a question to the person next to you – for example, “Who is the most good-looking person in the room?” Then you have to go and ask the person you think is the most good-looking a question, so the answer is revealed but in a secret way. It usually gets very tense.

Entertainment is essential, as people can get bored of each other, depending on how drunk they are. I always have music and then board games for later on in the early hours when everyone is smashed. At the last party I had, we started baking brownies.
