Katie’s marathon disaster: It’s all Kieran’s fault

She’s blaming her husband for her epic failure

-

She vowed she would crawl over the finish line to complete the London Marathon if she had to. But as it turned out, Katie Price faced huge criticism by quitting the race less than halfway through. And instead of accepting the blame herself (having told heat she hadn’t actually managed to do the training), the Pricey refused to apologise for letting anybody down and seems to have blamed the episode on husband Kieran Hayler.

“Katie is not letting the criticism get to her and doesn’t think she’s done anything wrong,” our source says. “She wanted to raise awareness for the British Lung Foundation, and that’s what she’s done. Yes, she didn’t train as much as others, but she’s had a lot on her mind as her mum is ill and she’s been worried Kieran may be cheating again, so that has been upsetting her. Given his past, she struggles to trust him, and wouldn’t have felt comfortable leaving him in the house on his own while she went out on long runs. She is blaming Kieran for this. Nobody really understands the strain she’s been under.”

The mum of five wore an elaborate lung costume to take part in the 26-mile race after being given a charity place for the British Lung Foundation – Katie’s mum Amy was diagnosed with terminal illness idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis last year and she wanted to raise awareness. The 39 year old has been through a rough year – her mum’s tragic news came after it was revealed Kieran had cheated on Katie with the nanny (which she denies), two years after she forgave him for sleeping with two of her friends. However, that didn’t stop the haters when she pulled out of the race, with several claiming she was a “disgrace” for taking a charity place from someone who would have completed the course. She was also slammed for turning up with a full face of make-up, and not tying back her long hair extensions – not exactly comfortable during the hottest marathon on record, with temperatures reaching 23ºc. One Twitter user said, “Katie Price has no intention of completing the course looking like that.”

After dropping out between the 10km and 15km mark – falling well short of the 42km finish – Katie was spotted in a café with her mum before posting a video of the family eating ice cream. Katie defiantly said, “If my mummy is proud, that’s what matters to me.”
