INSIDE FERNE’S PRISON VISIT
The reality star takes Sunday to see her dad
She’s recently spoken about finally agreeing to give her jailed ex access to their five-month-old daughter, after previously swearing he’d never see them again. And Ferne Mccann stuck to her word last week, visiting Arthur Collins with baby Sunday in tow. But insiders say the regular prison visits are proving tough for the reality star, as she faces up to the fact that Sunday will grow up knowing her dad is behind bars.
“She wells up when she sees Arthur with their baby,” a source close to Ferne tells heat. “She believes Sunday deserves to have a daddy like any other little girl.”
The 27 year old was joined by her mum Gilly Ferguson as she made the eight-hour round trip to maximum security prison Full Sutton in York, where Arthur is serving a 20-year sentence for a London acid attack. Last April, he went on the run and sparked a national manhunt after throwing acid into a crowd of clubgoers, leaving 14 injured.
We’re told that, despite insisting they have no future together, Ferne’s still hurting from her ex-boyfriend’s actions. “It’s hard for her, because she imagines the family life they could have had – the holidays and day trips they could have taken,” our insider tells us. “She gets ‘family envy’ when she’s out and sees other young families doing normal things that people take for granted.”
Initially, Ferne spoke about wanting to cut Arthur out of their lives for good. However, she soon had a change of heart, saying that it had been a difficult decision to make, but that, “I have to think of Sunday. Some people may think I’m wrong, but the last thing I want to do is hide what’s going on... I am doing this so she can make her own choice when she is older, rather than me forcing it on her now.”
Ferne is now resigned to keeping Arthur – whose parents were charged last week over a cannabis farm at the family home – involved. We’re told, “She’s looking at the bigger picture, and not at what other people might think. It benefits her daughter to at least know her father, whatever the circumstances.” n
