Posh: ‘I won't move to Miami for you'
They still can’t seem to find common ground
They’re a family who are forever racking up air miles, with work and homes across the globe. But Victoria Beckham has grown tired of all the long-distance travel, and has decided to put her foot down firmly on British soil. Unfortunately for her, it seems David – who announced earlier this year he would be basing himself in Miami for the launch of his football team – would happily ditch London for the US full-time if they could make it work as a family. And the couple’s differing views are said to be putting a strain on their 19-year marriage.
“David is still determined to relocate to Miami and commute between there and their place in LA,” a source close to the couple tells heat. “Victoria is happy to visit him in Miami, but isn’t keen to move there. London is where the kids’ schools and her business are, and she says no amount of nannies or helpers can substitute for not having David there. But he can’t put his name to the project and expect to run it from his lounge in London. If he’s serious, he knows he has to be in the States.”
Last week, we told you that broody Posh is seriously considering a fifth baby, especially now eldest son Brooklyn, 19, is living in New York and spending more time away from the family. At the same time, she’s dealing with the stress of a struggling fashion business, with her eponymous label being forced to take on new investors to cope. We’re told that the 44 year old is feeling like she’s losing control of the UK-
based brand, so it’s vital that she stays in London. “This is a rocky patch for Victoria,” the insider says. “Her business is having a rough time, and her partners are based in the UK and France. This is one of the toughest situations she’s ever faced as a designer, as her brand could be forced to be propped up by another company, which would make her their employee. ”
David, meanwhile, is dragging his heels Stateside. While Posh is keen to sell their Beverly Hills mansion, which they quietly put on the market four years ago, the former footballer loves having the LA base and wants to be able to spend time there when he’s not in Miami. We’re told he’s often seen chatting to fans and obviously loves the lifestyle there. Of course, it’s hard for Victoria when they are apart, but David has reassured her they will make it work.
Our source says, “Vic wants them to be a family unit in London and make Europe their base. But David is the face of the Miami project and, while it won’t be starting in the league until 2020, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done before then.”
