David finally reveals why he’s been so distant...

-

Just when it looked as if David (Jack P Shepherd) would never tell his friends and family about his rape ordeal, and instead be consumed by his anger, next week he finally breaks his silence and reveals all to Shona (Julia Goulding) – and it’s all thanks to Aidan.

Already stressed about his imminent court case, David hears about Aidan’s suicide and reels at the fact that he’s had dark thoughts himself . Doing a bunk on the way to court, he decides to open up to Shona. Julia Goulding reveals all... Why does David tell Shona about the rape now? he has isolated himself from everybody he loves, and the reality of being sent to prison is hitting him. He’s at his lowest ebb. What were the scenes like to film? They were really emotional. Jack and I really get on, and we usually have a laugh when the cameras aren’t rolling, but this was a very sombre environment. Is she frustrated that he won’t go to the police? She respects that it’s his choice. However, because she loves him so much, the injustice and frustration of what has happened, and the fact he’s never going to heal if nothing is done, makes her take it into her own hands, which I think is wrong. Is she angry about Josh’s reaction to the revelation? She’s infuriated, because he claims it was consensual, a one night stand, and he is very casual about it. She knows that Josh is lying, but she has to control her anger. Because if she actually did what she wanted to, she would be up on a murder charge. So, she wants revenge? She is determined to dig up some dirt on Josh and prove that he has done it before, or she is waiting for him to slip up. Is it a hard storyline to act? The anger, frustration and injustice are very easy to play and portray, because it’s such a horrific subject. Getting myself into that worked-up state isn’t too difficult, but shaking it off is a little bit harder. Should Josh be scared? Very – she is absolutely gunning for him. If I was Josh, I’d be absolutely petrified, because he has hurt the person she loves most. She’s after justice for David.
