Wayleen’s vow renewal

It looks as if the Rooneys really are back on track

-

After an eventful year for Wayne and Coleen Rooney – with the footballer charged with drink-driving while being accused of cheating on his wife (which he denies), the arrival of fourth son Cass, and the building of their mega mansion – they could do with a family holiday. And we’re told Wayne is keen to make it a summer they’ll never forget, by renewing their vows as they celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary in the sun.

“Since the birth of Cass in February, Wayne and Coleen have grown stronger and put their problems behind them,” our insider says. “Now Wayne is keen to celebrate their anniversary in style by renewing their vows on the beach, in front of all their friends and family. Although Coleen has publicly said she wants to wait a few years before they do it, Wayne knows he can convince her, and thinks it will be the perfect opportunity to show everyone how happy they are, as well as thanking their close friends for all their support.”

It’s the first summer that Wayne, 32, won’t have any footballing commitments with England, so they’re packing in the holidays, including a trip to their home in Barbados. The couple married in Italy on 12 June 2008, and this will be the first time since then that they’ve been able to spend the day together.

“They’re in such a good place right now and can’t wait to spend the summer with each other, with trips without the boys, as well as family holidays,” our insider adds. “They’ve been through a lot in their ten-year marriage, but have managed to come out of the other side, and Wayne in particular thinks it’s something that should be celebrated. And there’s no better way than by saying ‘I do’ again in the sun, in front of those they love the most.”

However, the couple may face more upheaval if Wayne accepts a deal to head Stateside. The footballer has been offered a contract to join DC United in Washington DC, which would see him there at least until the end of the 2020 season.

Coleen – who’s mum to Kai, eight, Klay, four, and two-year-old Kit, as well as baby Cass – also confessed last week that she and Wayne have ruled out having any more children. When asked, she said, “No! I can finally say no more. I’m happy with the four boys.” n
