Meet Washington’s new Real Housewife

Coleen Rooney sets her sights on a US TV career

- Katie Holloway

After their move Stateside, the Rooneys are settling into their new American life. And now we’re told Coleen has been having top-secret meetings with agents in the US to launch a television career – and could even star in Real Housewives.

“Coleen is still finding it really hard to adjust, so recently she met with some agents in a bid to spice things up and alleviate the boredom,” an insider tells heat. “She’s not made any good new friends in Washington and feels lonely with Wayne away so frequently with his football commitments. She wants to have a project for herself to keep her occupied outside of looking after the kids.”

Coleen and Wayne made the move to the US capital this summer after Wayne was signed to the local football team, DC United. Since then, Coleen, 32, has posted multiple family snaps of her with her four boys – Kai, eight, Klay, five, Kit, two, and eight-month-old Cass. And while she is clearly devoted to her boys, Col is tempted by the TV offers coming her way. “She has had a lot of interest from Hollywood execs, as well as [US TV network] Bravo’s Andy Cohen, who thinks Coleen could star in a reboot of the Real Housewives Of Washington DC or front her own show with other WAGS who are married to players from DC United.”

Before she started a family, Coleen made attempts to embark on a television career in the UK. Firstly, with a documentary entitled Coleen’s Secrets, which followed the WAG in her daily life. She also fronted Coleen’s Real Women – a show in which she looked for “normal” women to star in advertising campaigns, as opposed to models. And now our source tells us that, despite some fears, Coleen is keen to establish herself as a TV personality again.

“She is nervous, as she hasn’t done anything like this for a long time, but her friends Leanne Brown and Dawn Ward have done the Real Housewives Of Cheshire and they’ve been giving her advice – they had a lot of fun doing it and think it could be a great way for Coleen to launch her US career. She’s determined to try to make a life for herself in Washington.”
