Only the best nanny for Harry and Meg’s little one, obvs

Expectant parents hire super-nanny to the stars Couples who diet together argue, apparently

- KATIE HOLLOWAY

For any first-time parents, being sent home to look after your newborn baby is a daunting task. But for Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, raising a (relatively distant) heir to the throne is a lot of pressure. So, it comes as no surprise that the couple are looking to hire a nanny – and why go for any ol’ run-of-the-mill nanny when you can have one that comes recommended by the Clooneys?

Connie Simpson, known as “Nanny Connie”, has reportedly been suggested to Harry and Meghan by their close friends George and Amal to help out with their first born. The Alabama native has worked in childcare for more than 30 years and explains that she likes to work with families as a “life coach”.

The couple seem to have chosen to go in a different direction to Kate and Wills. Their children, George, Charlotte and Louis, have all been cared for by Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, a 40-year-old nanny who was trained at the prestigious and historic Norland College in Bath. Nanny Connie, however, is no stranger to high-profile clients, and has not only looked after Clooney’s twins Ella and Alexander, but has also worked with the families of Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, and Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake. Justin – father to three-year-old Silas – called Connie “The Baby Whisperer”, and John Krasinski – who has two daughters with wife Emily Blunt – admitted that Connie “changed [their] lives”.

While Meghan’s mother Doria is expected to move to London to help when the baby comes, it’s believed that Connie will help the couple for the first few months.

When asked recently how she would guide the first-time parents, Connie said, “I’ll tell Meghan that, in all the things you can give a person, the most important thing you can give them is yourself and your love. The baby is going to have no earthly idea that she’s Meghan Markle, or that she’s Prince Harry’s wife and in line to the throne. They will know her for being the one to supply milk and give comfort.”

Connie also advised that 37-year-old Meghan just enjoy the experience, rather than worrying about what other people think. “I would say, as much as she can, to just enjoy the moment of being a mother, the transformations of her body and the different stages of that baby’s life. I’d also advise her to not be overwhelmed by people’s advice. While she may take in information from people like her sister-in-law, don’t try to apply it all to her life, because it’s not all going to work.

“There’s a beautiful little bean coming into the world, so they need to enjoy what they made.”

After revealing that she wants to lose “six stone” while taking part in Dancing On Ice, it turns out Gemma Collins may be aiming a little too high in order to beat boyfriend James “Arg” Argent in their very own diet wars.

A source tells heat that the couple have been getting “secretly competitive” over the weight battles. “They had been trying to spur each other on after realising that they had been indulging too much. But now it’s become a bit of a competition, and Arg is complaining that Gemma has an unfair advantage over him now she’s training to compete on Dancing On Ice.”

Before she started that training, the 37 year old had admitted her weight worries, saying, “I don’t know how they’re gonna lift me up and how fast I can get around the ice.” But after a few weeks’ training, we’re told she’s happy to have seen some results.

“Gem doesn’t feel like she’s flaunting her weight loss in front of him, she’s just proud and happy that after a bit of training, she seems to be losing a few pounds and is excited about how much more she can lose. She wants James’ full support, but can’t help but feel as though he’s acting bitter and jealous about the fact she’s doing something about her weight.”

Friends of the serial on/off couple are said to be concerned that this latest disagreement between them just reveals how toxic their relationship really is.

We’re told, “It feels as though they’re both locked into some kind of weight war, where Gem will feel good if she drops a few pounds, but James won’t be encouraging at all. Instead, he’ll just moan about the fact that he’s not been able to lose any weight.”
