Given the look of sheer G panic on Ray’s face and his vice-like grip on the tray of diamonds, it doesn’t take a brainbox to work out that he’s shitting bricks about getting Mel an expensive engagement ring . Mel obviously revels in picking out the largest rock she can find, but is furious when she realises Ray has lied about not having the money to pay for it. It’s not long before Ray twigs that Mel knows he was lying and has to come up with a plausible reason for what he plans to spend the cash on instead. What a tangled web...
