Clique
Bbc3/iplayer, from Saturday 10 Nov, 10am
Jess “Skins” Brittain’s intense psychological thriller Clique made a big splash on BBC3 in 2017, and now it’s back for a second season with the emphasis boldly moving from an Edinburgh university clique of girl students, to a gaggle of provocative boys. This time round, our heroine Holly (Synnove Karlsen) is dealing with the aftermath of exposing corruption in high places. She’s living in a house share with her mate Louise (Sophia Brown) and some eager young student activists, but she’s soon attracted to Jack (Leo Suter), the handsome leader of a group of anarchic libertarian lads who define themselves by their opposition to the trendy, right-on “snowflakes” who dominate the student political scene. Throw in a right-wing celebrity provocateur, played by Jonathan Forbes from
Catastrophe, and a campus-wide scandal, and you have all the ingredients for a gripping, boldly topical thriller.
