Why Jen won’t be lonely this Christmas
Her BFFS are whisking her away to sunnier climes
She might not be making a beeline for any mistletoe this year, but Jennifer Aniston will still be having a better Christmas than most of us. An insider close to the actress tells us she’s heading to Mexico – her favourite getaway destination – with best friends Jason Bateman and his wife Amanda, to celebrate her first holiday season since her split from husband Justin Theroux.
“Jen has really relied on Jason and Amanda over the last year,” we’re told. “Jason, in particular, will bend over backwards for her. They’ve done quite a few movies together, and they’ve know each other for over 20 years – they’re like brother and sister.”
The insider adds, “Also, Jen is a bit fed up with the usual crew she parties with in Mexico – Jimmy Kimmel and Howard Stern are still friendly with Justin, but that’s not the case with the Batemans, who have been fiercely loyal to Jen. She has a lot of new projects planned for 2019 and she wants to see it in with people she trusts.”
Jen, 49, and Justin, 47, were together for seven years in total and married for two. Their close circle was a who’s who of Hollywood, but after announcing their separation back in February – following a make-or-break holiday in Mexico that New Year – it seems those friends have had to take sides.
“The Batemans are considered the leaders of what Jen’s friends call ‘Team Aniston’,” says the source. “They’re by far the most trusted people Jen has in LA, or anywhere. Everyone knows that if someone or something has upset Jen, the first people she’ll call to help calm her down and figure out a solution is Jason and Amanda.”
And it sounds like they’ve got Christmas covered for their bestie. “It’s going to be a nice, chilled affair in LA, then at one of their favorite resorts in Mexico – the main focus is to keep Jen smiling over what’s going to be a tough period. They’ll team up with Courteney Cox, [actress] Laura Dern and other loyal members of Team Aniston to really pamper Jen and make her feel loved. As far as she’s concerned, they’re her soulmates – nobody else comes even close.”
