He’s still determined to have a daughter
After giving birth to four children, Coleen Rooney could be forgiven for thinking that her contribution to the world’s population is done. But someone needs to tell that to husband Wayne. Despite only welcoming their fourth son, Cass, into the world eight months ago, Wayne’s apparently getting broody again and would love a little girl.
“Wayne adores being a dad. His boys mean the world to him and he would love to have more kids,” says our insider. “He is desperate to have a little girl, as he thinks it would make the family complete. All his friends who have daughters say it’s so different, and he would love to experience that. However, Coleen doesn’t want any more children, so Wayne would have a lot of convincing to do.” Earlier this year, Coleen admitted she was “done” with having kids and wasn’t holding out for a little girl, despite what many people thought.
The couple appear to be back on track after Wayne was charged with drink-driving in August 2017, after taking home a woman he’d met on a night out while pregnant Coleen was on holiday.
The family recently moved to America after Wayne signed to Washington DC, and he is hoping their new life there will show Coleen they can have one last baby.
“Wayne has really changed over the past few months, and he thinks that moving to America and being in the public eye less has been a big factor in that,” says a source close to the couple, who are also parents to Kai, nine, Klay, five, and Kit, two. “He feels there’s a lot less pressure on him now, and he doesn’t have as many bad influences around him – although Coleen is still taking some convincing about Washington.
“Wayne thinks that, once she starts to get into more of a routine and Cass turns one, she could be ready to have one more baby. He knows she adores being a mum to boys, but thinks deep down she’d love a daughter, so is hopeful he’ll get his way at some point.
“He knows the boys would love a sister, so he may even use them to help him persuade Coleen.” n
