She’s been open about her struggles with depression and anxiety, but Sheridan Smith seemed to have turned a corner after getting engaged to boyfriend Jamie Horn in May. However, heat has been told that the actress’ friends are now trying to encourage her to seek help after newspaper reports of some alarming behaviour.

The star’s hairdresser Shelley Cloud claimed last week that Sheridan tried it on with her during a beauty session at her London home. Shelley said that Sheridan was “drinking glass after glass of wine” and that “she was putting her hands all over my body” – three days before she was shown on TV calling her fiancé “the love of my life”. And an insider close to the Cilla actress tells us the allegations have meant her fiancé may stall the wedding. The source says, “The pair exchanged furious words after the reports emerged, and the wedding is currently on hold while they try to sort things out. It sometimes feels as though Sheridan is on a mission to selfdestruct and they’ve had crisis talks about their future.”

Although they got engaged after dating for just three months, Sheridan, 37, has recently gushed over her fiancé, 28, saying, “I have fallen in love. I’ve got my fella with me all the time and he’s put a ring on my finger. God knows why he’ll have me.”

However, Shelley, 37, claims Sheridan was constantly badmouthing Jamie when he wasn’t in the room, saying, “As soon as his back was turned, she would start bitching about him, calling him all the names under the sun.” Shelley says she even complained she had to buy her own engagement ring and put the money in his account.

Now we’re told Sheridan’s friends feel like they have to intervene to help her. “They are adamant that she needs to book herself into rehab and forget about her wedding to Jamie,” a source says. “Sheridan has said she will crumble if Jamie walks out on her, but at the same time, she’s refusing to calm her wild ways and stop drinking. She’s been on a downward spiral for months now, and her friends regularly panic when she doesn’t text them back in the morning because they’re all living in fear that she is going to do something stupid.”
