FLEUR’S EXTREME JUNGLE PREP Our queen of the jungle? Emily gets her chance to shine
SINGER STARVES HERSELF TO PREPARE FOR I’M A CELEB She sees the show as her last shot at fame
After almost single-handedly pulling a boat out of a river during the opening episode of I’m A Celeb, viewers and campmates alike were blown away by Fleur East’s banging bod. The X Factor star admitted that before entering the jungle, she had been going the extra mile to prepare her body for the lack of food. “I have been going on an intermittent fast to get my stomach ready for rations. I don’t want to go in there hangry. I have either been having breakfast and just water throughout the day, or no breakfast, a light lunch and dinner.” The 31 year old has always been a fitness fanatic and had increased her workouts to improve her stamina in preparation for everything the jungle could throw at her. “I thought I was going a bit extreme, but I met Medic Bob and he was advising we should be doing that to get our stomachs ready.” Speaking to heat previously, Fleur told us she loves working out and finds it easy to motivate herself. “I work out about five days a week, usually first thing in the morning, because it sparks my creativity. When I’m in bed scrolling through my phone first thing, and I look at [fitness gurus] like Brittne Babe and Kayla Itsines, then I’m like, ‘OK, I just need to get out of bed.’ Or, if I’m having a really slow morning, I’ll get up, brush my teeth and put my gym kit on before I do anything else.”
As well as winning hearts and minds in the camp, Emily Atack is a firm favourite for viewers at home after she skydived into our lives. And while those who have never seen The Inbetweeners may have been wondering who she was, we’re told Emily sees I’m A Celeb as her last chance for success. “She really wants to use the show to kick-start her career again,” an insider tells heat. “She showed so much promise in The Inbetweeners, [which ran from 2008-2010], but she didn’t quite live up to the hype.” Emily played Charlotte Hinchcliffe – also known as, er, “Charlotte Big Jugs” – in the British sitcom and went on to appear in both Keith Lemon and Tracey Ullman’s sketch shows. But as her co-stars went on to find greater success, her career seemed to stall.
Her friend Keith Lemon recently spoke about how funny Emily was, telling viewers she was an excellent mimic – as demonstrated by her Dani Dyer and Gemma Collins impressions last week. Our source agrees, telling us, “She’s really funny and has her own stand-up show, but she isn’t known for her humour at the moment.”
The 28 year old was most recently in the press after she was linked to Strictly love rat Seann Walsh. The pair were said to have had a brief fling after meeting on a comedy panel show in 2014 – while the comedian was still dating Rebecca Humphries.
We’re told Emily was keen to appear on I’m A Celeb to get her back in the public eye for the right reasons, and to give her a shot at the fresh opportunities the show could bring for her. “She’s seen what it’s done for other people and she’s keen for it to do the same for her. She knows this could be her last chance at fame and really wants to grab all opportunities,” our source explains. “She was in the news before I’m
A Celeb, with all the Seann stuff, and she wants to stay there. And she’s already showing off her personality and everyone is warming to her.”
After being voted to take on the first trial of the series, Emily impressed viewers with her courage when faced with 40 snakes – including one that lunged and bit the actress. Fans also praised Emily for comforting fellow campmate Anne Hegerty when she was in tears. The TV star’s mum – actress Kate Robbins – was quick to agree, saying, “She has got a kind heart and she will make sure people are OK.” n Katie Holloway
