Summer’s almost here, and Katie Price has block-booked babysitters so she can be with toyboy Kris Boyson

The reality star plans time away from parenting duties

‘She feels she deserves some fun and a summer away’

If there’s one thing we know about Katie Price, it’s that she LOVES kids. Oh, except when she doesn’t. The mum of five – who announced earlier this year that she’s also planning to adopt a Nigerian baby – has told friends she desperately needs some time away from her children. Which, apparently, means a whole summer of kid-free activities and adult-only holidays.

“Anything to do with the kids is an afterthought for Katie at the moment,” says an insider close to the star of My Crazy Life, who is mum to Harvey, 16, Junior, 13, Princess, 11, Jett, five, and Bunny, four, from previous relationships with Dwight Yorke, Peter Andre and Kieran Hayler. “She’s adamant that she doesn’t want her kids cramping her style while she’s on holiday, and has been moaning about how she needs a break from parenting. She feels as though she’s been through so much these past couple of years, she deserves some fun and a summer away.”

The 40 year old’s parenting skills have been a constant source of controversy in recent months, as Katie’s repeatedly fallen out with her ex-husband Pete over Junior and Princess appearing on her reality show. She’s also been criticised for using the kids as models in her new fashion range, and, last week, outrage reached new levels when Katie was accused of lying about her disabled son Harvey. Fans questioned why he’d been left at home with a nanny, while she enjoyed a sun-filled trip to Ibiza with her on/off boyfriend Kris Boyson and mum Amy.

The former glamour model took to Instagram to slam critics, sharing a picture of her eldest son’s expired passport and writing, “The real reason Harvey wasn’t with me on holiday with my mum

was because his passport had expired.” But many of her 2million followers accused her of lying, pointing out that the corner of his passport was cut off – a process that happens when you get sent a replacement passport. Others also scolded her for taking another holiday so soon after enjoying a family-free break to Thailand with Kris just last month.

Those close to the TV star blame her complicated relationship with personal trainer Kris, 30. “Of course she loves her children, but she’s worried she’s going to lose Kris if they’re always stuck at home when he wants to be out partying,” a source tells heat. “She really feels as though Kris could be her last chance at happiness and wants to lock the relationship down. But Kris is quite a bit younger than her and she worries about acting like a busy mum-of-five around him. She doesn’t think he’ll stay if she is constantly preoccupied with her parental duties. Her pals can’t help but feel that Katie is prioritising Kris over the kids, but she’s not listening. She just wants to be seen as fun-loving and free-spirited.”

And after the star has endured a difficult year of divorce, rehab and bankruptcy claims, her mates worry what that could mean for her relationship with her exes, and their custody arrangements. We’re told, “Everyone’s really worried Katie’s going to end up losing her kids altogether if she doesn’t change her ways. She isn’t listening to any of the warning signs and continues to go about her life as if she’s a carefree single woman.” n
