Cheryl doesn’t need a man to have another baby, just a sperm donor – any takers?

She may be single, but that won’t stop her getting pregnant

She’s normally guarded about her private life, so it came as quite a shock last week when Cheryl revealed that she is desperate for another baby – and is even considering using a sperm donor to get pregnant.

The 35-year-old singer – who never publicly confirmed that she was expecting Bear, now two – has been single since splitting from her son’s dad, Liam Payne, last summer, but she’s not letting that get in the way of having a big family. When asked if she would like more children, Cheryl replied,

“Yes, but you don’t necessarily need to be in a relationship. I’ve got a friend who has had two children using donors. Not everything has to be conventional. You can spend ages looking for the right man, waiting for the perfect time to get pregnant, then the right man might turn out to be the wrong man. There are definitely other routes I would consider.”

And heat has been told that Cheryl is very serious about using a donor and is looking into her options. “This is something she has been thinking about for a while,” an insider tells us. “At the moment, she’s exploring all possible avenues, but she has more or less made up her mind, which is why she opened up. She has been looking at specialists, lists of suitable donors and is reading up on it from a psychology point of view and what it involves. She knows it’s going to be a tough – and probably lonely – road ahead if she decides to go through with it, but she says it’s something she wants more than anything else.”

And if she is successful, Cheryl

isn’t planning on stopping at just two children. “She would love a little girl next, although she also says it would also be amazing for Bear to have a brother,” our insider says. “But having a daughter would give her that sense of completion, just in case there are no other babies. Although, right now, her mind is set firmly on another two over the next four or five years. She has admitted that if things had worked out with Liam, she would have hoped to already be pregnant again by now – so this is something she wants to happen sooner rather than later.”

The source continues, “Her mind is practically made up, so why wait? Also, she’s aware the process may take a few months, but she’s adamant she doesn’t want more than three years between Bear and his sibling.”

Being a single mum to a newborn won’t be much of a shock for Cheryl – who readily admitted in the interview that she got used to being alone during Bear’s early months, as Liam was away so much. She also said that she relied heavily on her mum Joan and her former Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts. “When I had Bear, I didn’t want a nanny in the first year or so. I loved all of it. I didn’t care about waking up in the night,” she said. “I breastfed, I made purees, I spent afternoons with Kimberley and her sister and their mates, who all have babies, and Nicola would come over in the evenings and help out. Liam was away working in the first four months, so I got totally used to doing everything. And if I needed more help, I’d be on the phone to the grandparents – his parents and my mum – and they’d come down.” She also insisted that she and Liam, 25, are on good terms for the sake of Bear – as “it’s your responsibility to keep things settled and happy”. And we’re told she even considered asking

‘If things had worked with Liam, she’d be pregnant now’

Liam to father another child, even though they weren’t in a relationship. “Of course, it crossed Cheryl’s mind to ask Liam to consider having another baby with her, and he thought about it, too,” we’re told. “But for him, there was no way he wanted to bring another child in this world in those circumstances. Bear was a happy accident, and the best thing in his life, but he hates that the set-up is like this – it does break his heart. He knows he has no say in Cheryl’s new baby plans, but he still feels it affects him. He thinks it would be great for Bear to have a brother or sister, but it just feels a little awkward to him. He’s also wondering how the dynamic will work if she does have another child – right now, they are doing quite a bit of family time, Bear is such a fun age and it’s all lovely. He’s wondering what happens to that in the future. But Liam does accept that Cheryl’s donor plan may be easier for him than if she met another guy and had a baby with him, as he’d then have to see someone else play dad to Bear.”

We’re told Cheryl is being fully supported in her decision by her mum Joan, who spends a lot of time at Cheryl’s home, helping out with her grandson. “She has discussed things with Joan every step of the way, and she has actually told Cheryl that this may be the best method,” we’re told. “Joan never had much luck with relationships, either, and says Cheryl doesn’t need to put herself through the heartache. Also, Joan witnessed the stress of the separation with Liam and the hassle involved in co-parenting, which won’t stop until Bear’s grown up. But she just wants Cheryl to be happy and knows another baby will do that. She’s fully behind her.” n
