Furious Cheryl: ‘I would never steal another woman’s man’
The singer is accused of flirty behaviour
Fans of The Greatest Dancer might have thought they’d accidentally tuned in to Love Island last week after watching an interaction between dance captain Cheryl and “receptionist” Curtis Pritchard. The 36-yearold singer was accused of “flirting” with 23-year-old Curtis, who’s in a relationship with fellow exlove Islander Maura Higgins.
The exchange – which took place in the reception area – saw Cheryl and Curtis greet each other with a lingering embrace, as Curtis told the mum of one that she looked, “absolutely fantastic”. Cheryl then proceeded to tease Curtis by quoting the Love Island catchphrase, “Got a text!” to him. She continued, “Is that really annoying? I won’t do it any more, promise.” To which Curtis replied, “That’s OK, you can do anything.” Cheryl then strutted out of the room, blowing a kiss goodbye to Curtis, leaving him visibly flustered and wiping his brow. Now we’re told Cheryl has been left “mortified” by the claims she was flirting with Curtis, who also hit the headlines last week when he was forced to deny claims he’d cheated on Maura with a girl in a bar on a night out.
An insider close to the singer tells us, “It was just a bit of fun – Cheryl knows Curtis has a girlfriend. She would never disrespect Maura like that. She sees Curtis like a younger brother and she thought it was just banter.”
Viewers were quick to comment on the flirty exchange, with one posting online, “Someone call Maura [and] tell Cheryl to stop flirting with Curtis.” The mum to two-year-old Bear has been accused of flirting with the reality star before, after she posted an Instagram of her posing in a BBC corridor back in August. She captioned it, “Oh, hi Curtis.” And he could be seen in the background.
We’re told Cheryl is upset at what people have been saying. “Everyone who knows her knows she would never try to take somebody else’s man,” says the source. “She loves working with Curtis and everyone on The Greatest Dancer, and she won’t change her behaviour because of what people are saying.” ■
