What do you do if your husband is loving your time apart a bit too much? Well, if you’re Posh, you go out and get trashed
Apparently, David isn’t keen on spending that much time with her
She may be a respected fashion designer, married to one of the world’s sexiest men and live a jet-set life with her four children, but last week Victoria Beckham proved she was just like the rest of us. The former Spice Girl was attending a BAFTAS after-party in London when she was pictured looking worse for wear as she got into her car home, after clearly overdoing it. Having taken advantage of the free bar (we’re assuming it was Champers), Posh slumped back in her limo and even appeared to have a little nap at one point. But while it’s not unusual for Posh to enjoy a drink or two – she once said she would drink a bottle of wine for dinner rather than eat if David didn’t make her – we’re told it’s come at a tough time in their marriage, as she normally doesn’t get so drunk.
After years of hard work and build-up, the big launch day for David’s football team in Miami is almost here, with their first match taking place in
March, as the MLS kicks off for a new season. As heat has reported, David will be spending the majority of his time in Florida as the team takes shape, leaving Posh at home in London with their four children, Brooklyn, 20, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 14, and eight-year-old Harper. Last week, while Posh was soaking up booze, the former England captain was in Miami, soaking up the sun and absolutely loving life out there. And we’re told, he didn’t really want to come back, much to Posh’s dismay.
“Now his American dream is so close to becoming a reality, David has really been embracing the Miami way of life,” our Beckham source says. “He was over there for the Super Bowl with [close friend and business partner] Dave Gardner. Although he was working, they had some downtime and they made the most of it. It also made him realise how much he enjoys being in America – when he’s away, he can’t wait to get back out there. He’s told Vic that he wants to spend more time in the US – more than he had been intending – which has not gone down well. So, she decided to really let her hair down at the BAFTAS party and show David that he’s not the only one who can have fun. She loves having a wine at home but when she goes out, she is normally much more in control. But this time, she just really wanted to go out and have fun with her friends.”
According to our source, Posh, 45, is very worried about how they can manage the strain of being apart for so long. She’s even offered to relocate the whole family to Miami, even though it would be very difficult. However, David, 44, isn’t keen on the idea and thinks spending more time apart is actually better for their marriage.
“While Vic would like her and David to be together 24/7, he has a completely different point of view,” our source says. “He loves time apart as he thinks it makes their time together better. He can sometimes feel a little trapped at home with all his work and family

responsibilities, but out in Miami, he feels like a different man – he can be more carefree than he is at home, and he feels happier at times. Of course, he loves being with his wife and kids, but he also enjoys how free he feels in Miami. He really has the best of both
worlds and doesn’t want that to change.” And while Posh struggles to accept their new way of life, we’re also told she is exhausting herself trying to make sure she looks her best at all times for David. “Victoria’s friends have warned her that she is going too far with her exhausting fitness and beauty regime,” our source says. “But she feels that it’s necessary – she says David is ageing like a fine wine, while she feels like she’s always struggling to feel good about herself as she gets older. As well as getting her veneers replaced recently, Vic has undergone very painful procedures to keep herself looking young, including non-invasive skin-tightening. She also spends thousands a week on Legacy facials and won’t go to sleep at night until she’s done her LED Skin Therapy – which leaves her feeling absolutely exhausted.” The insider adds that Posh’s friends are concerned about how much pressure she is putting on herself, especially as David still gets so much attention wherever he goes. “When it comes to her diet, Vic is tough on herself – she swears by her daily routine of eating sprouted grain cereal with unsweetened organic almond milk in the morning, green smoothies for lunch, and then fish and vegetables in the evening,” we’re told. “Her friends are constantly nagging at her to cut loose every now and then and stop punishing herself with all her mad routines, but Vic is very stubborn. She feels as though she has to work twice as hard as David when it comes to looking after herself,” we’re told. “He might be considered the athlete, but Vic could run her own Olympics team of healthy living practices. She rarely gives herself a treat day and never misses a beauty appointment, training session or specific time of the day when it’s best to eat. Her one indulgence is wine or Champagne… and tequila. David’s the complete opposite – he likes to train hard and then give himself a break when it comes to indulging in food and drinking what he wants. Some of her friends can’t help but think she would be a bit happier if she did the same.”
While we love to see Posh letting her hair down, we hope she wasn’t drowning her sorrows too much. ■
