Bea’s tears over wedding plans
She just wants her day in white
‘Her dad has wrecked everything’
It was finally announced last week that Princess Bea’s wedding to Italian property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29 May. A post on the royal family’s Instagram page said the Queen had “kindly given permission” for the couple – who became engaged in September – to marry at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, followed by a private reception in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.
We’re told that, while Beatrice is happy to finally move on with her wedding plans, it’s been a stressful time for her. She’s had to make multiple alterations to her big day following the scandal involving her father Prince Andrew and the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. “Beatrice is beyond touched by the Queen’s kind offer to host the reception at Buckingham Palace, but truthfully, it’s not what she wanted,” our royal insider tells us. “She was desperately hoping to get married at Windsor Castle, in the same chapel as [her sister] Eugenie, and Harry and Meghan, but her dad has wrecked everything.”
Andrew stepped back from royal duties after his infamous Newsnight interview in November, in which he refused to express regret over his friendship with Epstein. It’s said it was then decided that Beatrice’s wedding should be more “low-key”.
Both BBC and ITV have confirmed they will not be broadcasting it. We’re told, “Beatrice is so stressed, she’s finding it hard to concentrate on the wedding. But Edo has been taking it all in his stride, even though Bea has been in tears at times. As upset as she is, she’s focusing on the positives now.” ■
