HAIR COLOUR SOS

Whatever your shade, we promise to give you a good hair day, every day

-

Red alert

Redheads are often neglected when it comes to products, but there are some real gems out there to ensure your hair is always looking on fleek. Anna Short, L’oréal Professional colourist at Daniel Galvin, says. “Dyed red hair is notorious for fading, so it’s important to revive it with a gentle, high-shine product that doesn’t contain ammonia or peroxide.” Whether your hair is natural or colour-treated, Joico’s Colour Infuse shampoo helps to prevent fading by locking in colour from root to tip. Expect shiny, smooth locks, after using every other day. Follow with a tinted mask, which refreshes dull hair – leave on for 10-15 mins post-shampoo to let the product work its magic. If you need a little pickme-up between salon appointments, a semipermanent red dye will give your barnet a much-needed boost.

Golden girls

While it’s said they have more fun, blondes tend to have the driest locks. Anna tells us, “Blondes can become dull for a variety of reasons, including product build-up and pollution.” It’s important to neutralise yellow undertones with violet products. Anna says, “To stay looking fresh, I recommend Kérastase’s ultra-violet masque – it’ll keep brassy tones at bay and nourish hair.” Use weekly to protect against dullness and other environmental aggressors. Anna explains that all blondedyed hair types need to be kept hydrated, especially Afro. “It’s actually one of the finest and most fragile hair types,” she says. “This makes home care essential.” Make hair oil your new BFF and use daily for a hit of hydration.

Chocolate shades

Brunette babes – you need to know that blue is your hair’s favourite colour. Anna explains, “Blue can neutralise brassiness on brunettes, due to the higher amount of cool tones reflected in the colour.” And there are plenty of products out there that will rebalance your locks, from masks to shampoos. Use four to six weeks after colour treating your hair for best effect. Follow your shampoo with a brunette-boosting conditioner – it will nourish and boost your hair to its best shade ever. If you are short on time and money, Moroccan Oil’s cocoa mask is your saviour. This easy-to-use treatment enhances vibrancy in between salon visits and nourishes locks – all for under £7.
